A group of playful boys stumbled upon a peculiar coconut, which upon being cracked open, began to exude crimson droplets resembling blood. Recognizing this as a divine sign, they sought counsel from the village priest, who affirmed that it was an embodiment of the goddess Bhagavathy. Thus, inspired by this revelation, they resolved to erect a temple in her honor. However, since traditional worship was reserved for women, these audacious boys ingeniously adorned themselves in lungis fashioned as sarees to pay homage to the goddess.

The festivities unfold on the 10th and 11th days of the Meenam Month in the Malayalam calendar, infusing the air with an electrifying energy. Prior to the main event, devotees meticulously prepare the goddess's chariots, bedecking them with vibrant flowers as a symbol of reverence. As dusk descends, a transformative scene ensues as men, clad in sarees or chudidars, undergo a metamorphosis with elaborate makeup and ornate jewelry, embodying the divine feminine spirit.
